Introducing Vine. The biggest meme site that contained all the legendary funny videos that still to this day are circling around the internet, appearing on other social media feeds bringing back nostalgic memories to look back on.
So what is Vine? Vine is a video hosting services similar to current platforms like Tiktok and Youtube. It allows people to share a max 6 seconds long videos usually catering to humour. Founded in 2012, and got bought by twitter after 4 months of racking up the value to $30 million. It thrived for a while, creating memorable content and birthing now big Social Media Stars like Liza Koshy, Thomas Sanders, Zach King and many many more.
At one point in 2016, Twitter decided to shutdown Vine and making it into a less interesting app by removing the most important feature of the short clips and forcing people to post them on Twitter instead, pulling everyone away to other social media platforms. The Stars I mentioned earlier as well all moved to Youtube having more creative freedom and video length to share to the internet. By 2019, all traces of Vine has been removed completely by Twitter.
I will be sharing the more well known vine compilation that still brings a laugh to people even in this day and age.
Sounds like the classic internet switcharoo story! $30 Million?! Wow! I wish I was smart enough to invent something! Hey, if these kids embarrasing themselves is so "iconic" why come I never heard of them? ^_^
